Memoratus Ergo Sum

Digital preservation is an essential technically-mediated but fundamentally humanistic form of communication unfolding across archival timespans, with imperatives to mitigate against risk and friction exacerbated by ever-growing cultural as well as technical distance.

Preservation-enabled communication is inherently culturally contingent – and thus, idiosyncratic – with regard to time, place, person, and purpose.

These notes provide  an opinionated reflection regarding a working theory and research agenda for the digital preservation enterprise.
